Dr Mariza Georgalou holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, an MA in Language Studies from Lancaster University, UK, and a PhD in Linguistics also from Lancaster University. She has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Hellenic Open University: Language and Digital Media, Stylistics, The Discourse of Social Media, Language, Education and Society. Her research interests are at the intersection of language, (social) media and society. Her work has appeared in Discourse & Communication, Discourse, Context & Media and Social Media + Society. She is the author of Discourse and Identity on Facebook (Bloomsbury, 2017).
